A Surge in VA Loans Could Follow US Military Homecoming by 2010
Historically every major U.S. War and conflict has resulted in a large increase in the number of veterans who qualify for VA loans. President Obama has announced that all U.S. combat troops are to be removed from Iraq by August 2010 and all remaining troops by the end of 2010. Since VA Loan eligibility has a lot to do with duration of service, there are many new VA Loan “eligibles” since the war began. Whether they enlisted before or after the Iraq war began, many more soldiers are now qualified to benefit from the VA Home Loan Program. If history repeats itself, there should be a surge of VA mortgages upon the return of soldiers from Iraq.
